Deena Basima Chihade, M.D., F.S.V.S., R.P.V.I. is a highly skilled vascular and general surgeon with extensive experience in her field. Training
A native of Illinois, Dr. Chihade earned her undergraduate degree in Cell & Structural Biology from the University of Illinois before pursuing her medical degree at Southern Illinois University. She completed her General Surgery Residency at Emory University, where she successfully completed a two-year NIH T32 Research Fellowship, specializing in Sepsis and Critical Care research, with a focus on topics such as sepsis and the microbiome.
During her general surgery training, Dr. Chihade obtained certifications in laparoscopic, endoscopic, and Da Vinci robotic surgery. She then went on to complete a specialized Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Upstate Medical University, further honing her skills in both open and endovascular procedures. During her training, Dr. Chihade was awarded 10 grants, scholarships, and funding awards in recognition of her exceptional academic and research accomplishments.

Dr. Chihade diagnoses and treats a variety of vascular conditions, including aneurysmal disease, carotid stenosis, chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), venous leg ulcers, diabetic vascular disease, pulmonary embolism, and hypertension.
She has authored 58 published papers, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations. Additionally, she has contributed four book chapters, including a chapter on Endovascular therapies for the upcoming edition of Rutherford’s Textbook of Vascular Surgery.
Her contributions to the field extend to her active involvement in professional societies, where she is a member of 14 esteemed organizations, including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Vascular & Endovascular Surgical Society, and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.
